How we compare prices (Methodology)
  • Data sources: We fetch live pricing from participating dealer product pages and/or APIs.
  • Refresh cadence: Prices and spot updates sync on a schedule (typically every hour). Each page shows a timestamp when the prices were last refreshed.
  • Payment normalization: Rankings default to bank/ACH pricing. Where dealers publish multiple payment prices, you should verify the price on the dealer website based on the selected payment method.
  • All-in price: Due to differences in sales tax, shipping costs and payment method adjustment, we show item price and note what’s included.
  • Premium over spot: Premium = The amount charged by the dealer, minus the current spot per unit for this specific product.
  • Stock handling: Typically, we only show prices if the dealer has the item available for sale on their website. Pre-Orders are typically labeled. Sometimes, dealers will list items as in-stock and available for sale when they are on backorder; out-of-stock offers are de-prioritized or hidden.
  • Independence & disclosure: Dealers cannot pay to change rankings. Some outbound links are affiliate/sponsored; they’re marked and use rel="sponsored". This does not affect how prices are displayed.
  • Corrections: See something off? Contact us and we will do our best to fix the issue quickly.

Expert Notes

Mercury dimes were commonly found in pocket change until the 1960s when many were pulled from circulation by collectors. These dimes were minted to the same specifications as modern dimes, however, many Mercury Dimes are slightly thinner due to wear from circulation.

Many stackers, preppers and investors buy Mercury dimes in increments based on their face value. Each coin is fractional silver and 50 dimes fit into a standard bankroll.

Circulated Mercury Dimes - $1 Face Value 90% silver

  • Legal tender coinage produced by the US Mint from 1916-1945
  • Mercury Dimes were common in circulation until silver was removed from circulated coinage in 1965
  • Comprised of 90% silver, 10% copper
  • Each dollar of face value contains about 0.715 troy ounces of silver
