How we compare prices (Methodology)
  • Data sources: We fetch live pricing from participating dealer product pages and/or APIs.
  • Refresh cadence: Prices and spot updates sync on a schedule (typically every hour). Each page shows a timestamp when the prices were last refreshed.
  • Payment normalization: Rankings default to bank/ACH pricing. Where dealers publish multiple payment prices, you should verify the price on the dealer website based on the selected payment method.
  • All-in price: Due to differences in sales tax, shipping costs and payment method adjustment, we show item price and note what’s included.
  • Premium over spot: Premium = The amount charged by the dealer, minus the current spot per unit for this specific product.
  • Stock handling: Typically, we only show prices if the dealer has the item available for sale on their website. Pre-Orders are typically labeled. Sometimes, dealers will list items as in-stock and available for sale when they are on backorder; out-of-stock offers are de-prioritized or hidden.
  • Independence & disclosure: Dealers cannot pay to change rankings. Some outbound links are affiliate/sponsored; they’re marked and use rel="sponsored". This does not affect how prices are displayed.
  • Corrections: See something off? Contact us and we will do our best to fix the issue quickly.

Expert Notes

While similar in appearance to modern quarters, these Washington Quarter dollars were minted between 1932 and 1964, at a time when quarters were made of 90% silver and 10% copper. Each coins contains approximately 0.1808 troy ounces of silver content with a total weight of 6.25 grams (0.22 ounces).

The silver Washington quarter was first minted in 1932 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth. The coin's design was chosen through a nationwide competition, and it was created by sculptor John Flanagan.

These quarters were minted at various U.S. Mint facilities, including Philadelphia (no mint mark), Denver (D mint mark), and San Francisco (S mint mark). The mint mark is usually located on the reverse side, above the denomination.

$10 Roll of 90% Silver Washington Quarters

  • Minted from 1932 to 1964
  • Alloy mix of 90% silver and 10% copper
  • Minted by the US Mint
  • Legal tender face value of 25 cents per coin
  • Standard bank roll of 40 coins

Due to rising silver prices, the silver content of these quarters was eliminated beginning in 1965 with the introduction of "clad" quarters.

Pre-1965 Washington silver quarters are highly sought after by collectors and investors due to their silver content.

Each $10 face value silver roll contains forty pre-1965 Washington 90% silver quarters. The approximate silver weight of each $10 roll of 90% quarters is 7.15 troy ounces.
